Wood Trike Wheel Attachments
I have made two different types of trike wheel attachments that are compatible with the Disruptor wheelchair. For rough urban terrain and road races, I use a 5"x 1.4" solid wheel plate caster. I buy this caster from Home Depot for about $26. It doesn't flutter at high speed.
For nature trails and gravel roads, I use a 6"x2" pneumatic wheel plate caster from Amazon for a similar price. Since I happen to have a better quality wheel on hand from electric skateboarding, I swapped out the cheap wheel with my better one. This caster will flutter on smooth terrain. Note that casters don't flutter on uneven ground.
The trike attachments are secured to the Disruptor by wood blocks and hand clamps. At this point, this method seems to work fine. It may change in the future, if I think of something better.
The frame of the trike attachments are made from 1"x4" white wood that I trim down to be 1"x3" (because I like the smaller width look). The frame of Urban and Nature are slightly different in order to account of the different wheel sizes. The Urban has a useful small shelf in the front. In both cases, the frames can be used for carrying items.
